NCOPE Larry Lange Awards

The O&P Foundation has partnered with the National Commission for Orthotics and Prosthetics Education (NCOPE) to provide two $2000* awards to support Orthotic and Prosthetic (O&P) residents to further professional development in support of professional conference attendance. This award recognizes the outstanding practice, education, and leadership of a current resident or recent graduate of an NCOPE accredited O&P Residency Program. 

This award was established by NCOPE in 2007 in honor of Larry Lange CPO, FAAOP who dedicated over 27 years to the O&P profession and the patients he served. He gave richly of his talents by volunteering his time and energy to various national Orthotics and Prosthetics organizations. 

For 22 years, he served The American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC) as an examiner for the clinical patient management exams. Larry believed in furthering his education as evidenced by his pursuit and attainment of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists Fellow designation.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must either be currently registered as a resident or recent residency graduate (<6 months) of an NCOPE accredited O&P Residency Program 
  • Must have a 3.5 (O&P Program Cumulative) GPA or above

How to Apply

Create an account in The O&P Foundation Application Portal, then select the “NCOPE Larry Lange Award” program application and follow portal instructions. 

Application Materials

1. Complete the online NCOPE Larry Lange Award application form

2. Author a personal statement (500 word limit)

  • Describe your professional and development activities in the O&P community that outline your dedication to the O&P profession and leadership attributes 
  • Outline the relevance of this award to your future professional goals.

3. Obtain an official or unofficial transcript from your O&P program institution

  • Official transcripts are not required; however, unofficial transcripts must be signed by Program Director or Faculty Advisor.
  • The transcript must include your cumulative O&P Program GPA.                

4. Obtain (1) letter of recommendation from a Residency Director.                   

Key Deadlines

Applicants are responsible for ensuring all materials are submitted to The O&P Foundation portal by 5pm (CST) on the posted deadline.

  • Program opens on April 1st, 2026
  • Program closes on May 4th, 2026
  • Award notifications in June 2026
