NCOPE Larry Lange Award
The O&P Foundation has partnered with the National Commission for Orthotics and Prosthetics Education (NCOPE) to provide (2) $2000 awards to support Orthotic and Prosthetic (O&P) residents to further professional development in support of professional conference attendance. This award recognizes the outstanding practice, education, and leadership of a current resident or recent graduate of an NCOPE accredited O&P Residency Program.
This award was established by NCOPE in 2007 in honor of Larry Lange CPO, FAAOP who dedicated over 27 years to the O&P profession and the patients he served. He gave richly of his talents by volunteering his time and energy to various national OP organizations. For 22 years, he served The American Board for Certification in orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC) as an examiner for the clinical patient management exams. Larry believed in furthering his education as evidenced by his pursuit and attainment of the American Academy of orthotist and prosthetist fellow designation.
*All awards are considered taxable income; recipients will receive a 1099 IRS Form for the award tax year
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants must be a currently registered resident, or recent graduate (<6 months) of an NCOPE O&P Residency Program
- Must have a 3.5 GPA or above
How to Apply
Create an account in the O&P Foundation Application Portal, then select the “NCOPE Larry Lange Award” program application and follow portal instructions.
To be considered for the award, the following must be submitted:
1. Complete the NCOPE Larry Lange Award application form
2. Author a personal statement (500 words)
- Describe your professional and development activities in the O&P community that outline your dedication to O&P and leadership attributes
- Outline the relevance of the award to your future professional goals.
3. Obtain an official or unofficial transcript from O&P program institution
- Official transcripts are not required; however, unofficial transcripts must be signed by Program Director or Faculty Advisor.
- The transcript must include the cumulative O&P Program GPA.
4. Obtain a letter of recommendation from a Residency Director.
Submission
Applicants are responsible for ensuring all materials are submitted to The O&P Foundation portal by 5pm (CST) on the posted deadline.
