Carlton Fillauer Award
The O&P Foundation's Carlton Fillauer Award for Outstanding Contribution to Prosthetics Science and Practice, sponsored by the Fillauer family, recognizes prosthetists and/or prosthetist orthotists who have actively engaged and contributed to clinical care, research, and scientific dissemination in the prosthetics specialty. In addition to receiving the prestigious recognition of the Carlton Fillauer Award, recipients will receive a $5,000* cash award or the opportunity to contribute the award funds to a prosthetics-focused funding program in their recognition for the following fiscal year.
The Carlton Fillauer Award will be presented at the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium.
*All awards are considered taxable income; recipients will receive a 1099 IRS Form for the award tax year
Call for Nominations
- Every two years, the O&P Foundation solicits nominations for individuals who have made a significant impact on prosthetics practice through scientific research and clinical care activities.
- The O&P Foundation Board of Directors may also nominate deserving individuals
Eligibility
- Eligible to provide clinical care as a prosthetist and or prosthetist orthotist within the United States (ABC or BOC certification is required)
- Have a minimum of ten years of clinical experience
- Demonstrate a commitment to the profession through a record of service through volunteer leadership activities
- Have been actively involved in clinically relevant research directed at improving prosthetics practice and clinical care over a period of five years or more
- Demonstrate a record of research communication and dissemination activities
- Author or co-author in at least one peer-reviewed journal
- May not be employed by a manufacturer or distributor of prosthetic devices
How to Nominate
- Create an account in the O&P Foundation Portal and select the Carlton Fillauer Award program
- To apply on behalf of the nominee, use the portal to complete the following tasks:
- Complete nomination information form
- Provide nominee's resume/CV(requested directly through the portal)
- Obtain (2) letters of recommendation/support for the nominee (requested directly through the portal)
- Nominators will be responsible for completing the submission process by 5:00pm Central Time on the due date.
